TEDxJohannesburg is an independently organised TED event.
Like TED, we believe that ideas have the power to change the world. Our goal is to make the best ones accessible and, in the process, spark conversations that will help these ideas spread.
For this reason, we are committed to celebrating locally driven ideas, and elevating them to the global stage.
We’ve had the privilege of doing this work, with some success, since the beginning of the TEDx programme in 2009. Over that time, we have developed deep partnerships with TED in New York, and with TEDx communities around the world.
We bring this experience and the value of these connections to every event we stage.
The fee contribution that the TEDxJohannesburg community makes when attending the event goes into curating and producing high quality talks that we then make available online, free to the world.
This contribution also ensures that we are able to create the best possible experience for you, the TEDxJohannesburg audience. For those who are not able to attend the event live, we make a feed available on Livestream, free of charge.
Our event is organised by a dedicated team of highly skilled people. Most are professionals, others are students, and a few are companies. None of them get paid for their work.
Our speakers, like all speakers at TED events, also do not get paid.
Any revenue that TEDxJohannesburg generates is reinvested back into the mission of celebrating locally driven ideas, and elevating them to the global stage.
